THIS ENGRAINED HEART
I am a Deaf author and I am a self publisher.
Let me introduce a bit about myself. I was born a hearing child, but I lost my hearing at the age of two. I attended at one of Deaf schools in South Africa and completed my Matric in 2007. After 2007, I did not know what I should do, and I felt lost, however, after a while I decided to start writing short affirmations to keep me going, figuring what I should do, and help find my way to connect with my creative writing.
I have been writing thousands of poems since 2010, and I have some books on Amazon (to show the world that I as Deaf can write as my second English language) and I have some books available in South Africa!
I would like to share a poem with you:
Bitter, I know, but
I’d like to think that Deaf is doing great
Aye, I’d like to think that Deaf is great
Who said that Deaf is dumb and mute?
O, how you can say that to us.
What if I say, Hearing is dumb and mute,
Would you be happy to hear that I said?
If you think Deaf is dumb and mute
I would think Hearing is dumb and mute
Because the world they mostly rule are
So sad, why? The wars are with Hearing
Now you think Deaf is dumb and mute?
Aye, I’d like to think that Deaf is great
And yes, mostly Hearing are great
Because the hearing world is so big!
